The Hong Kong Aids Prevention Society (HKAPS) was established in 2008 with approval from the Hong Kong Police Force and is currently a recognised charitable organisation under the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. At its inception, the Society operated on a non-profit basis to promote AIDS prevention education, sexual health advocacy, and frontline community support services in Hong Kong. Our early work focused on grassroots outreach, school talks, peer education, and public awareness campaigns, striving to collaborate with all sectors of society to build a community free from AIDS-related discrimination and rich in health awareness.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
However, as the local AIDS epidemic entered a 'concentrated epidemic' stage where targeted prevention became crucial, our development strategy has also evolved with the times. In recent years, we have successfully transitioned from a community education-focused organisation into a professional AIDS research institution grounded in the local context, combining community sensitivity with academic rigour.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
We continuously engage in evidence-based scientific research to deeply explore the dynamics of HIV infection in Hong Kong, the effectiveness of preventive interventions, the development of treatment and care models, and related socio-cultural and policy issues. Our research aims to fill knowledge gaps, providing robust data support and innovative recommendations for local and regional AIDS prevention and control strategies, clinical practices, and social policies.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our mission has now expanded to:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Promoting Innovative Research:\u00a0<\/strong>Conducting impactful, locally-focused applied AIDS research and translating scientific findings to optimise prevention and treatment services.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Building Bridges for Knowledge:<\/strong>\u00a0Serving as a bridge between policy think tanks and the community, combining frontline experience with academic evidence to advocate for evidence-based public health policies.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Deepening Professional Capacity Building:<\/strong>\u00a0Providing professional training and resources for healthcare workers, social welfare professionals, and researchers to enhance the overall professional standard of the AIDS response.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Fostering Cross-Sectoral Collaboration:<\/strong>\u00a0Connecting academia, the healthcare sector, community organisations, and government departments to jointly build a more effective comprehensive AIDS prevention and treatment network.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
We firmly believe that combining cutting-edge scientific research with deep-rooted community care is the most effective path towards the goal of 'zero infections, zero discrimination'. The Hong Kong Aids Prevention Society (HKAPS) will continue to uphold its founding principles, using professional research as its foundation to lead local AIDS prevention and treatment efforts into a new era.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
